Our plan

The Poverty and Development Research Center focuses on primarily urban poverty in so-called developing countries, primarily India and countries in Africa, and studies the causes and consequences of poverty in those countries through ethnographic methods, giving particular attention to socio-cultural factors. The research center also looks at the effects of development interventions, and provides recommendations for new approaches to solving the problems of poverty and inequality in these areas. Countries in which the research center members currently work include: Cameroon, Ethiopia, India, Kenya, and Tanzania.
